Must Have Picture Books to Build Your Classroom Library

Must Have Picture Books to Build Your Classroom Library

There is nothing more powerful than a good picture book to engage students of any age in meaningful discourse, focus on reflective activities, and build a love of reading.

Getting cozy in the reading corner with my students, regardless of age, with a beautiful picture book is always the happiest time of my day. There are so many picture books that I love to read for a variety of reasons, from teaching a wide range of reading strategies, celebrating holidays and seasons, and just having fun.

This {growing} list includes some of the many favorites that I have in my classroom library that I highly recommend. Each link includes several picture books on each topic and free activities that you can use to accompany these books.

Have fun exploring these lists and reading with your students! Be sure to bookmark this page or pin to save this growing list!

Reading picture books is definitely my thing! I love that through the simple act of reading aloud picture books like these, students are exposed to new people, ideas, and engage in meaningful discourse with their peers. Plus getting cozy in the reading corner with students creates powerful memories and a love of books. Children love to listen to a good story no matter their age. Read aloud to your students each day and watch your students grow into readers who love books!
